21/11 On tap @ La Cerveteca, Barcelona. It poured hazy amber body with medium sized head. Weaker yeasty, banana and light orange aroma. Flavor was lightly sweet, very pleasant with vanilla, apple, banana and a touch of chalky yeastness, just to add to its curiosity. Medium in body with long, sweetish finish. Not particularly complex but really tasty strong Belgian blonde, with alcohol extremely well hidden.

19th Oct 2012 I had a 33cl bottle of this beer in ’Taverne Het Haasken’, Diest. Dull old gold, murky amber colour, the yeast and sediment came with the beer as I poured. Malty nose: mild caramel and bready notes for me. The beer tasted malty also but with a yeast and mini-hop bitterness feel in a well carbonated body. Different and a beer to try and find: Diest is a good place to start that search!

33cl Bottle,400 Quadringenti labelled, complete with sediment: brewed 09/2011, best before 12/2012. Poured into a Westvleteren chalice @ home on 15 Oct 2012. The sediment was allowed out during my pour so the beer looked a dull, cloudy orange: the head was white, the foam and bubbles being a variety of sizes and shapes. Floral/fruity nose, with traces of malts and yeast. I found the taste to be semi-sour and with a moldy feel overall. Strange but not really interesting, I prefer my Belgian brews to be more powerful and stronger in alcohol. Flavour wise it lacked depth, some maltiness, yeastiness and an off fruity undertone didn’t really do it for me. Nothing wrong with it, but I couldn’t recommend it to anyone.
