33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems en Zoon. Thick coca-cola, syrup, nasty leaves taste with unfitting sparkling / way to high carbonation, fake sugary, sticky sweet, weird oxidized, wine-leaf taste. Seems like the type of beer that Ecaussinnes would release, I didn’t like this one at all. Not sure if this is Anders messing up or the client giving lousy recipe & asking for non-optimal ingredients, I am inclined to believe the later.

330ml bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours hazy yellow, big white head. Light floral aromas, grains. Taste is light sweet, more floral notes. Kinda lacks something, but not bad.

330ml bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours murky brown with a short-lived off white head. Aromas of light honey and fresh orange. Toffee. Taste is largely brown sugar. Bit thin. Ok.

33cl bottle from Cork and Cask. Appearance - cloudy yellow-orange with a nice fluffy head. Nose - very gentle flowers, but generally a lack of aroma. Taste - a bit quiet to start with but oranges coming through eventually. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy/tangy texture and the best bit is the tang returns at the end. Overall - a general lack of flavour compared to some other strong Belgians. So, atypical for this style. Can’t believe how crap the other ratings are though! It’s a decent beer.

33cl bottle from Cork and Cask. Appearance - murky dark brown with a head that disappears a little bit too quickly for a Belgian. Nose - soggy branflakes with sugar. Honey, since it’s mentioned. Taste - more brown sugar and bread. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry finish. Overall - a solid beer but not great for the style.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Nice brown - red color, decent sized beige to light brown head. Not a lot of aroma other than the obvious maltyness and caramel. Taste malts, caramel, lightly sweet, brown sugar. I get something weird in the background, something that to me indicates it’s a little bit off. Nonetheless, it’s a decent Abbey Dubbel in general.

Bottle @ benzai. Abbey double is not my favorite beerstyle. Ruby colour with a medium sized off-white head. Smells sweet, raisins, dark malts. Tastes sweet, raisins, dark malts, some herbs and a slight hint of liquorice. Medium body, soft carbo. Decent!

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Average carbonation. Nice lacing. Dull aroma of wet cardboard and grain. Muddy flavour of earthy hops, pear, rotten apple, marzipan, yeast and a fairly strong alcohol note. Medium body with a spongy mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Rather unpleasant. I couldn’t finish the bottle.
