From a bottle at the Brugge Beer Festival on 2nd Feb 2014. Chestnut hue to the reddy brown body, nice, neat beige topping. Aroma was sweet caramel and slightly spicy, some dark fruitness too. Flavour was sweet malty molasses with a nutty trace in with the dark fruits, both toffee and caramel coming through to hide the alcohol, not a lot of bittereness, but I liked the brew.

from a bottle at the Brugge Beer Festival on 2nd Feb 2014. Poured a light but cloudy orange colour, uneven off-white head, slight lacing. Aroma was on the sweet side with mild fruitiness coming through. The taste was sharper and crisper than I expected from the nose, almost sour in fact, then it calmed down a bit, citrus notes melted away to give a sweeter fruity feel, alcohol bite too. Traces of herbs and spices along with a little yeastiness finished off the flavours nicely: a fine Tripel with a good body depth and feel to the whole thing.

Halenbeers’ second, with cream white, stable head and misty peach blonde robe. Aroma of banana, caramel, orange peel, litchi, candi sugar, cream; fruity taste, orange peel, white candi sugar sweetness, sweet and soft maltiness, sourish touch (lactic) perhaps due to mild infection, bit vinous, spicy and herbal finish with little bitterness. A bit weird tripel, but not all bad.

Halenbeers’ first, brewed at Anders. Coarse, off-white head and dark brown colour. Aroma of caramel, pear, biscuit, candi sugar and honey; fruity taste with spicy hints, subtle candi sweetness, caramel malts, mild grassy hoppy finish. Okay, but nothing more.
