Pours deep amber into a tulip. Fluffy off-white head recedes to skim surface. Dark caramel aromas. Upfront sweet caramel and pit fruit with a dry lasting sweet alcohol finish.

Hints of ginger in the aroma. Think Blandford Fly. LIght brassy gold color with a head that filmed and champagne bubbles. Thin to medium body with a medium carbonation. The heat is strong with the first mouthful, but the flavor of alcohol seems hidden. For me the flavor is ginger with pale malt sweetness. There is also pepper, but it took awhile to figure that out. The heat moderates after a few swallows. It is a tad vinous, and, barring the ginger, it drinks of champagne. The finish is lightly sweet, clean, not sticky, and might have a bit of citrus hop. Very good.

Hazy light amber color; the head disappears quickly. The aroma is malty, a bit fruity, but also oxydized. Medium body strength, with some sugars left, light malt aroma, very light fruitness; the final gets thinner. Not bad, but something is wrong.

Pour is a golden with a huge white head. Aroma starts out a little skunky(green bottle with a Belgian?) but straightens it self out with some clove and vanilla. Flavor is lots of great clove and yeast with some pepper and vanilla. This one did not start out good for me but the flavor is quite decent and that puts this in the good category.

Golden colour with a small white head. Fruity aroma, a bit perfumed. Sweet flavours, a bit earthy, but it lacks bitterness. Aftertaste a bit alcoholic. Not the best in its league.

Another beer on the "can’t believe I haven’t rated it yet" list - almost clear, bubbly, straw-colored pour, with a fizzy head - bright, fruity aroma, with notes of peach, apricot, candi sugar, background spicy qualities and light wheat/bread - fairly sweet, but with a nice spice and a light, earthy tartness in the background to balance it out - semi-tingly carbonation, keeping it from being as smooth as it could be - peach and apple, with the tang of fruit skins thrown in there - light vanilla and honey develops as the beer warms up - a nice alcohol warmth that never becomes overpowering - a tiny bit of banana and melon - nicely balanced.

Finally I got around rating one of my all time favourites. 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge creamy/crispy slight off-white head. Aroma is orange peel, yeasty and some malt, the combination simply screams out what a true belgian tripel is. Flavour follows the aroma tightly, orange, spice and clear malty flavoured in a mellow malty sweetness. Finish is vaguely bitter but more malty and spiced. Very well balanced and still light. Uncomplicated (but not simple) and wellcrafted balance between the spices, malt and the yeast notes.

(Bottle, Cuvée Prestige 2005) To start, an extra point for the bottle, classy stuff. I had tried it before a couple of years ago in Antwerp, so I knew to be ready with the glasses, since the foam comes gushing out immediately upon opening. Only a couple of drops ended up on the table, well done. The beer pours a golden yellow colour with lively carbonation and a huge, bubbly, white, collapsing head, leaving traces of lacing. Champagne like, herbal, slightly yeasty nose with notes of citrus (lemon, grapefruit), hints of lemon balm and roses, distinct aromas of fresh ginger. Herbal, perfumey taste with notes of yeast, pickled ginger, citrus and lemon balm. There is a slight, but definite, resemblance with the norwegian soft drink Champagne Brus. Rather fiery with sweet alcohol notes warming up the finish in a nice Champagne way. A bit sweet (and a bit pricey as well), body slightly over medium. Carbonation keeps it fresh throughout. A peculiar beer in its own style. Very nice!
