clear amber, huge smooth light brown head. aroma is licorice, rosted grains, dryness, faint sweet dark fruits. aroma is pretty much centered around licorice and roasted malts, much less around caramel and dark fruits. Still distinctly different from a porter or a stout. flavor is hard roasted malts, charchoal, licorice, dryness. sort of resembling the darkest bock’s i’ve tasted. ends a little bit sweeter than it starts out.

Bottled (from Beerplanet, Belgium). Deep brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is caramel malts, alcohol and some wood. Flavour is quite much the same.
Earlier Rating: 4/8/2008 Total Score: 3.3
Bottled (6.3%). Dark brownish red colour with big beige fluffy/bubbly head. Aroma is caramel, coffee, nuts and some mild fruityness. Flavour is fruits, toffee, mild coffee as well as some quite sour fruits. As it warms up it gets some mild metallic notes in it. Some spices and yeast also become present as it warms up. Aftertaste is sour fruit along with spices and some wood and caramel.

(Bottle, 0.75 l as Bellevaux Black Cuvée Spéciale, at the 16th Kerstbierfestival) The beer poured almost black. Its head was quite large and light brown. Aroma had malts, liquorice and chocolate. Palate was full bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, roastedness, chocolate, liquorice, mildly sweetness, bit of hops and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was malty. Nice, tasty beer.

33cl Bottle bought at the brewery, thanks Harmen! Hazy yellow colour, disappearing white head. Aroma of wheat, coreander, lemon. Flavour is tart lemons, coreander, wheat, grain, sour lemon finish, seems a bit infected even. Light bodied. Refreshing, but wrong sourness imo.
