Bottle picked up from Dranken Vandewoude, Veurne and consumed at home Sunday 12th January 2025 listening to the Tom Robinson on 6Music. Ok after getting over the rather tacky bottle image and name let us move on. The pour is murky brown with a light tan head a little boozy on the nose, some stewed and dried fruits fruit and a hint of vanilla, isn't this barrel aged, because I am getting some whisky, yes just checked it is, hope that this is the correct rating? . It's ok, a little sweet, some toffee dried fruits again, boozy, mid table mediocrity.

A flurry of beers from bierhandelwillems earlier this year, I'm sampling this one tonight. 33 cl bottle that tells me the abv is 9,5%. Cap is lifted and I tilt into a Straffe Hendrik large tulip glass. I see a La Trappe caramel colored body topped with a prudent skim of silvery tan foam. There's brisk carbonation too. Ooh, nice smell. Boozy right off followed by yeast esters, grain, plums and a bit of earth. The drink is fine too. Figs, chewy leather, malt, wheat bread, whisky and dates. Nice sensation, I call it full. Throwback quadrupel with scotch whisky, all right by me.

Nice to get a 33 cl bottle from a helpful Belgian seller in mid-summer. Cool weather recently, the right time to sample a quadrupel. I feel like the Teku glass is right for this time, I open the bottle and pour. A cloudy caramel brown liquid finished by a hefty head of khaki tan foam and some lacing potential. The nose is attractive with yeast, ripe dark fruit, cereal and hard candy. The drink is better than the scent. Figs, scorched grain, a bit of toffee sweetness, raisins and malt. A solid traditional quad, I like it considerably.

500ml bottle pour @ Poperinge Bier Festival 2024. Pours gold with a fine mist. Crisp sharp brut with a good effervescence, pleasant sweet apple with white grape notes. Doesn't jump out as being wild necessarily, perhaps a light sour tang, ok

500ml bottle pour @ Poperinge Bier Festival 2024. Pours a relatively clear pink, gentle carbonation. Crisp bright acidity, subtle rhubarb with a soothing strawberry sweetness emerging on the swallow. No tannin presence at all. Expected a little more natural fruit definition. Fine overall.

25cl from a 330ml bottle @ Poperinge Bier Festival 2024. Pours a hazed reddish amber, good off-white head. Aroma of amber malt, grain. Flavour profile delivers mostly red ale malts, soft and a touch grainy, with gentle fruity tangents without getting overly sweet or complex. Ok.

Bottle from Delhaize.
A: hazy golden, small, off-white head.
A: ripe apple & plum, vodka, cake, moist white pepper, vague glue.
T: sweet apple & plum, spicy phenols, cake, bread crust.
F: floral hops, ripe yellow fruits, phenols and warming vodka-like alcohol.
P: medium body, oily texture, average carbonation.
Boozy indeed, but why would that be a good starting point?

A dark yellow beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has fruitness with some sweet and dried fruits. Taste has the same fruitness as in the aroma, some spicyness and strenght of alcohol. Medium bodied. Pretty nice.

Medium, stable, just off-white head over very carbonated, fully hazy ochre-orange beer. Dusty, chalk, citrus, pale malts, bit peppery. Sweet, bit boozy (indeed) with a citrussy, almost sourish finish. Bit hoppy, just giving an idea of bitterness. Alcohol is obvious, quite slick, oily to viscous. Again one of those... nothing wrong at all, but what is the purpose? Purchased @ Dranken Goegebuer, Knesselare
