Cask @ Willow Walk, JDW. Victoria SW1. Pours a slightly hazy pale golden color with a very small whit ehead. Has a fruity malty floral hoppy aroma. Sweetish fruity malty and slightly hoppy flavor with some hints of citrus. Has a fruity malty finish with some hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

50cl bottle at home. quite brown, large light brown smooth head.mild flavor of roasted malts, faint liqueur, faint mild sweetish chocolate’ish aroma too. dry, roasted grains, lots of flavor for a "low" alc, faint charchoal, other flavors (licorice amongst them) blended in so well i can’t really discern them. but it makes the overall experience balanced and solid. Really like the flavor.

(2004 bottle) Deep brown with a ruby hint and no head. Intense aroma - toffee and raisins but with some funky, leathery, resiny notes too - striking, but not entirely pleasant. The mouthfeel is thick, syrupy, even oily with the slightest hint of carbonation. The flavour is intense, dominated by sweet caramelly molasses with several other tastes including raisins, spices and of course alcohol. There is also something fairly subtle that reminds me of marmite / vegimite. There is some bitterness in the finish. Overall this is an extraordinary beer, but not one for every day. It can initially be quite confronting, but it steadily grows on you. (Thought this was a good beer for my 200th rating on Ratebeer. Soon to do a side by side taste test with a bottle I have kept for 26 years...)

Bottled(500ml). -Black coloured, medium sized brown head, light vinous nose. Dry roasted malt, chocolate and licorice taste with notes of smoke and port wine. Smooth. Bitter roasty finish and aftertaste. Decent stout.

Brown bottle, 500 ml, best before 07 07 09, via Roland + Russell, savoured on April 8 2009; eye: golden, lightly hazy, slight effervescence, white head that disappears almost completely and turns into a really tiny ring, no lacing; nose: malt, light hops, light grapefruit; mouth: really carbonated, grain, malt, light hops, slight orange, grainy finale in malt with presence of hops, medium body, a bit thin, lightly bitter, slightly sweet; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 500 ml, meilleure avant 07 07 09, via Roland + Russell, savourée le 8 avril 2009; œil : dorée, légèrement voilée, très légère effervescence, mousse blanche qui disparaît rapidement et se transforme en un très petit anneau, pas de dentelle; nez : malt, léger houblon, léger pamplemousse; bouche : très carbonatée, grain, malt, léger houblon, très léger orange, finale granuleuse en malt avec présence de houblon, corps moyen, un peu mince, légèrement amère, très légèrement sucrée; en résumé : correct

Cask @ Bon Accord. Clear golden colour, short white head. Aroma has a hint of fruity malts, caramel. Flavour some fruits, biscuit malts. Watery.

Bottled(500ml). -Orange/golden coloured, medium sized white head that went away slowly, light citrusy nose. Hoppy, citric fruity and flowery taste with notes of honey and Cascade in the finish. Big sediment at the bottom.

Deep amber with a large head. Fruity, spicy, light yeast inthe aroma. Similar flavor with bright fruits and finishing with a spicy, yeast bite. High carbonation level. Very tasty brew and a nice thirst quencher.
