Cask conditioned at the Robin Hoods Retreat, Bristol 2/6/07. Cola coloured with a moderate off-white head. A touch of sweet malt on the nose followed by a very dry flavour of dark fruit and roasted malt. Easy drinking with a slight oily mouth feel.

Cask-conditioned at the Inn on the Green, Bristol. Amber coloured with a moderate head. Aroma of caramel and red fruits. Flavour was of rich malt with a dry finish. Pretty good but extra alcohol didn’t add a great deal.

Bottled vintage 2006, #28954
Dark nutty brown, ruby color, no head. Cookies, barley and rye bread in the nose. Bready, portwineous, hints of rye and licorice. Some hops, dark fruits, wood and alcohol in the aftertaste. Bitterish and salty. Nice dessert beer, but not so complex as expected, propably needs a couple of years in the cellar.

Cask at The Black Friar. Very minimal floral hop aroma. Brassy color with firm white head. Starts nicely fruity with passing malt and a light bitter finish.Decent mouthfeel. Just excellent. Some sips seemed perfumy and floral. This was not constant.
