Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 29 November 2022. Pale golden in colour with a thin, off-white, head. A sweet malty beer, with a touch of floral hops and weetabix malts, before a moderately bitter finish. So so.

Little 25cl bottle, 2005 vintage I've owned since at least 2006. Consumed Thanksgiving day 2022. No pop on the cap, pours a translucent amber, no head. Nose has caramel, malt, port, some booze, a little cardboard, cherry even. Flavors of port, some amaretto, cherry cordial, fruit cake, caramel. Oxidation went away when it had a chance to breathe. Boozy, long, sticky sweet finish.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours almost black with a small cream head. There’s dark fruits and roasted malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet and has a fruity texture plus a little smokiness. Main flavour is lashings of liquorice with some toffee and alcoholic strength. Finish is dry and smokey. Decent, but I didn’t enloy it as much as I expected. Maybe a rerate is required ?

25/8/2022. Cask at the 43rd Peterborough Beer Festival. Pours clear bright golden orange with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of zesty citrus, grapefruit, malt. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, touch of citric tartness. Moderate body, oily and watery, soft carbonation. Lacks depth but okay.

Cask at the Hamilton Hall, Liverpool St, 19/07/22. Dark amber with a decent beige crown. Nose is biscuit, dark malts, dried fruits, brown bread. Taste is malt forward, biscuit, earthy, tobacco, raisins. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close. Not in the best of nick me thinks.
