Murky amber appearance. Lively aroma of passion fruit, caramel, brown sugar, plum. The flavour, however, is underwhelming (it may not have been a word when they wrote that song but it is now). It’s got a slightly dusty, vaguely malty character to it. One of the most annoying things in beer is when it smells great and then tastes like hardly anything at all. That’s what I’m getting here.

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark, clear amber-colour with a thick creamy head. Gets hazier when you approach the bottom from the sediment. And gets pure mudwater if you pour the last finger. Slightly nutty with a dry hoppiness. A nice bitter. 150305

(Bottle 50 cl) Incredibly fresh, citrusy nose, high carbonation. The bottle fermentation has created an immense pressure so that the beer almost floods out of the bottle. Pronounced hoppiness by which this British wheat certainly is different from it’s German and Belgian counterparts. But quite fresh although mainly from the hops - you don’t find the refined fruity wheat esters in this. Unfortunately. 240105

(Bottle 50 cl) Deep bronze, hazy with a rather huge sediment. Lasting if not exactly very tall head. Very fesh and fruity nose. Also a fresh and somewhat rustic aroma, not that far from a wheat beer - but then again not really. Some indefinable - but lovely - hoppy notes. Very highly carbonated. Rye beers are rare, but this one is quite sympathetic - if odd... 311004

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] A dark brown beer with a beutiful light brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted combined with notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of raisins, coffee, and chocolate. A great beer.

Almost opaque black, not much head. Aroma of flowery hops and sweet lemon. Oaky and earthy roasted malty flavors and mildly hoppy finish. Quite watery body.

I love wheat beers so even though I had never heard of this one I eagerly grabbed it. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer pours a cloudy golden amber color with a huge yellow-white head. The aroma is light and fruity with a hint of spice and banana. And there it stops because the flavor contains none of this. The flavor is mild at best and bitter and dry. Only a vague hint of citrus or even wheat. There really was nothing much good to the flavor of this one. They call this one their double champion wheat. Obviously there must not have been any other contestants.

2004 Vintage. This pours an average sized, frothy head that diminishes quickly. Tha aroma is one of molasses, pepper and a bit tobacco like. Sweet from start to finish, but it needs a bit more hop dryness to balance a cloying sweetness. I’ve got another one of these begining it’s cellar time which shoud do it well.

Hazy orange colour. big white head. A little spicy smell with hints of citrus. Has a nice rye taste and the mouthfeels is very smooth. There is just a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Not the best rye beer i have tasted.
