Pale gold yellow color, a little clearer and less bubbly than czechvar. Can pour a large grassy/straw smelling/tasting head if too warm. Iniital taste is saaz hops, but has some sour notes to it I dont care for. Some malt character towards the finish, but this beer is too watery, and does not warm gracefully. Still, it has a crisp enough body while cold and has some straw/floral notes to some extent.
Rerate, 2015 bottle. Had this at a xmas party w very few options. Wow was this horrid. Massively thin texture does not support a very stiff, nearly sour, bittering component. Hard carbonation, no maltiness at all and a good deal of diacetyl. Just screams incredibly rushed brewing process. Significantly worse than even 3-4 years ago.

Upon opening, I smelled a certain striped desecrator of flavor on the nose. We all know, however, that drinking beer is about "image," and this "foreign-looking" green bottle is preferred by the trendy and sophisticated swillers of the world, apparently. Luckily, light hops restored their aromatic dominance (although they weren't exactly dominant), and the golden-colored body is flavorful, hitting the tongue with slightly spicy hops upon sipping, and opening to sweet, smooth malt and lemon flavors upon the swallow. From what I've read about this beer, I believe I escaped the brunt of my furred adversary's tail-based attack.

I tried this from a 22 oz bottle on the train home, alte at night, suffering from a cold. That said, it made a really good impression. Nice little head formed in the bottle, and a really sharp Saaz hop bite I would never have expected in a pale lager. Really helped ease my suffering; and bless the 7-11 on Michigan Ave. for having a variety of beer to take home besides the usual 40's of malt liquor and Foster's oil cans!

Excellent on draught in the Czech Republic. Considerable hops and fairly bitter; lots of carbonation. Easy drinking, crisp and one of the more refreshing beers around.

The colour is dark blond. The aroma is wonderful, the expected malt depth, almost biscuity (zwieback), grassy hops, hint of smoke. Elegant malt base, very strong, an example for all new world Pilsners, the hopping is moderate, a bit herbaceous.
After drinking hundreds of craft Pilsners, this is still better.
2012-04-27, draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 7-3-7-4-15=37
Blond color, with medium sized head. Very nice malt aroma. Very solid malt flavor, like a rock, with a good level of bitterness, complete and balanced, with a good degree of sweetness. It lacks the fresh fascination and hop of some Helles, but it's a master of clean and fat malts.
2003-02-01, draught, 7-4-6-5-14=36
Very nice hop and malt aroma, rare for any other big brewer, honeyish. Good bitter body and strong, quite aromatic final.
