Bottle at home, this has been packaged almost 3 years ago… and it kinda shows. Some of the additions have faded away and some oxidization shows for sure, it’s got some umami notes to it. Oherwise the coffee’s still there, and so is the cacao. The body is lightish to medium at max, some hints of higher alcohols also show

Bottle from the cellar, 3 years old by now. Welp, this was a mistake; not sure how the beer has been fresh(er), but it’s way past its zenit now. Almost no barrel to speak of, the base beer is extremely mid, the body is thinnnnnn. Ouch

33cl can, BB 24/04/2025.

Can from Mr. Hop. Aroma is cocoa, roasted malt, coconut, chocolate, some candied (dark) fruity and syupy-sugary notes, cold coffee. Flavour is sweet with some tartness and a good roasty bitterness in the finish. Body is medium to full. Sweet and tart-ish Chocolate Stout with coconut and candied aromas, different and satisfying.

Fast receding cream-beige head over reddish black-brown beer. Caramel, molasses @ pouring; chalk, sweet roast. Bread with cassonade sugar. Liquorice, intense at onset, in the end followed by some roast and some less specific sweetness. Cardboard, syrupy breadspread. Warming up a bit, finally a very modeste acidity lends some cautious depth. Bit sticky, yet only medium bodied at best; soft carbonation and creaminess, indeed referring to the rye. BLACK: yes, it is, NEW ENGLAND, since that means opaque, OK. But this is as much IPA as Pepsi would be IPA. Such a shame, as judicious choice of hops can make black IPA wonderful. Txs to Stef!

33cl can, BB 25/06/2025.
