Description

We brouwen ons bier volgens de slogan "Beer for Thought".

Bottle from Het Bierhuis, Breda, Netherlands, consumed at home Saturday 28th October 2017 on a ponding weekend whilst cooking Prawn, Scallops and Clams with Tomato and Feta. Much like the standard version this is conker coloured with a small head. The barrel ageing is a touch more subtle than expected (thankfully) however much like the standard version this is very sweet and pretty pokey. I enjoyed this it's warming a little fruity but all in all a classic barley wine. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle from Het Bierhuis, Breda, Netherlands, consumed at home Saturday 28th October 2017 on a ponding weekend whilst cooking Prawn, Scallops and Clams with Tomato and Feta. Deep rich conker coloured beer with a slim head. Ok it's hugely sweet but it's a big barley wine and it's a good one, plenty of warmth but not overpowering alcohol. Thick in the mouth notes of sherry, lovely Barley Wine. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Presumably the same as V2? Same hops, same abv! Need a clue here folks! What's the difference? Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, mildly dry and has a mild minerally crispness. Thin sweetish malts. More minerals. Light bright orangey hop, touches of peel and tangerine. Modest hop spice and a trace of lemon. Crisp finish. Light, bright and breezy.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before February 2017. Hazy, golden amber with a thin, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, intensely fruity and moderately grassy aroma of pineapple, mango and passion fruit. Slightly sweet, juicy, very fruity and slightly grassy taste of passion fruit, pineapple and some mango, followed by a short, just slightly bitter, moderately grassy finish with a slight hop burn. Almost medium-bodied, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite nice!

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Black with tan head. Sweet dark roasted malts with spices and floral notes up front. Stroopwafelstroop, speculaas, licorice, waffle dough. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Bit boozy. Quite nice but the aromas are hardly recognizable as stroopwafels.
