4 oz draft. at Schillings Lager Fest. Biscuit / cracker malt with a mild honey-like depth. Texture is clean, with a nice malt characteristic. Nice!

16 oz. can from Dark Lager Fest. Deep brown beer color, pours with a lot of tan foam. Clean malt smell, signs of Pacific hops. Taste is plenty malty, even a little sticky. Hops have a bit of a fruity note more than bitterness. Dark malts have very little roast to distract from them.

Can from Ryan: pours clear hold with white head. Aroma is super bready, little grassy. Lightly bitter. Clean and crisp.

16oz can. Unique, but lacks the balance/bite of a Black IPA. A little bit too sweet, kind of boring hop tone. OK.

16oz can. Solid example of the style. Deep toasty black malt tone, but clean and well attenuated. Full and rich for the moderate ABV. Good.

16oz can. 2024 version, 7.8%. Luscious, World Class stuff. Very reminiscent of Celebrator. Phenomenal stuff, doesn't get much better. Awesome brown chocolate malt depth. World Class and then some.

Hopleaf draught, 11/30/23. Clear, lighter amber. Small off-white head at half inch cover. Lighter, toastier, good mix of malts. Clean. Lots of sourdough with light, herbal hops. Malty caramel notes up front, with bread, pepper, toast and honey following. Good mix of malt, attenuated, crisp finish and lots of honeyed sourdough. Not the most crisp finish. A bit syrupy, even. But the malt character is excellent. Just needs a bit more balance.

16oz can. World Class awesome stuff. Roasty sweet chocolate malt tone. Barely any trace of alcohol. Pretty much perfect.

The usual good light lager color, a head that's leaving behind some lace. I am imagining I do catch some oak wood on the nose. Taste is nice and mellow, almost like a store-bought light lager, but with extra malt and taste. Interesting that I think I'm actually tasting oak. In memory of, what, a tongue depressor? Some woody resin? Either way, it adds a bit of sharpness to the taste.

Fresh 16 oz can, bought as it went on tap today. Very slight haze in a good beer or, puffy white head. The initial noise is light on malts, but they're still there. Instead of the usual peppery European hop, there's a very light gritty nose of hard candy. Taste is dry like a lager, a bit perfumey like a Pilsner Urquell. Again, a bit of fruit or candy, but in the background. Another subtle variation on Goldfinger's light lagers.
