Draft pour at Goldfinger. Almost as dark as a doppelbock, with a creamy off-white head. Smell still has some yeast to it that overrides anything else at first. Taste is a full, hearty and malty smack. Caramel roast that would be pretty sweet if not for an otherwise indistinguishable balance of German style hops. Maybe a side note of black tea. Smell resolves to big doppel malts further down.

On tap at The Beer Temple. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light roast and dark bread with a bit of chocolate coming through. Flavor has earthy bread and light roast with some chocolate underlying.

Deep brown color, slightly cloudy, under a pillowy white head. Kind of like the pre-Pro Brooklyn and Sam Adams lagers. Smell has a bit saison to it: unfiltered yeast and some toasted Minnesota wild rice. The rice and yeast come out in the taste too. Dry malty taste, very little sweetness. A bit of bitterness on the edges of the tongue.

Special firkin draft. Nice, strong roast coffee in the nose. Black beer in the glass with a head of tan foam. Coffee really dominates the taste here, and then there is a nice strong blend of Porter malts to it. Very happy to have caught this. Roasty taste gets stronger as I go further down the glass.

Draft at the source. Amber-ish body under a pillowy head. The malts in the nose are like wheat toast with a bit of honey. Taste brings up the subtle spiciness of rye malt, as described. With Goldfinger's usual sharp European hop profile. It is clichéd to say this, but this is indeed easy drinking: while still being quite hearty when it's cold.
