Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a decent pumpkin with a spice and a burning. Flavor is a very slight spice and not much after that. The finish is watery and almost flavorless. As far as pumpkin beers go this was way below par. No real spice or pumpkin stand out.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a nice looking dark body that supports a small bubbled light colored mocha head. The aroma offers up sweet malts, a light black licorice spicy note, earthy tea and slivers of dark roasted malts. The taste starts smooth with malts and then it quickly gets into a mix of dark roasted malts, some black licorice that have that Mt. Hood hop thing going on and then a pleasing degree of earthy tea. The earthy tea, little bit of licorice and dark roasted malts really go well together here.

22oz bomber pours with an opaque deep gold body that has copper hues and supports a white head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet tangelo, clementine and tart pithy grapefruit aromatics. Wow, inviting smell. The taste is bold with tangelo and clementine citrus notes that are heavy with bitter hops and also smooth with modest malt sweetened tangelo hop flavor. It ends refreshing and fairly dry. This is solid hoppy brew with plenty of rich citrusy hoppiness.

Cask at Kern River on 9/23/14. Black with a very heavy lacing cinnamon tan head. Nose is licorice vanilla, chocolate, and more vanilla. Flavor is very light bitterness, lots of chocolate, anise, and vanilla. Very nice especially when served from the cask.

Bottle: Poured a nice golden color ale with a nice foamy head with excellent retention and some super great lacing. Aroma of fresh pineapple and citrus is very pleasant with nice flora undertones. Taste is also dominated by huge floral aroma of fresh grapefruit with some nice citrus notes with a lightly sweet malt backbone. Body is about average for style with great carbonation. World-class IPA which is approaching Alpine level but not quite there yet.

Draft at Kern River Brewing, a 7 barrel test batch. After talking to Ashley at the brewery I found out that this is a second test batch with more ABV and dry hopping than what Kyle called the White IPA (7.2% ABV). Nose is bubblegum, tropical fruit, citrus, and floral. Murky light yellow with a medium white head that laces lightly. Flavor is lightly bitter with tropical fruity sweetness amid a malty background. Tastes much lighter even with the substantial body than the ABV suggests.
