Bottle from het Biermoment, dated 08-17, 33 cl sample. Almkst clear amber color, medium rocky head. Aroma has Bretty bubblegum, slight calvados and some spicy notes. Ofcourse, no DIPA features present anymore, but I didnt expect anything else, as I had a DIPA of this basement series before. In flavor, its like an Orval on steroids, but then with lots of bitterness remaining of the DIPA. As an Orval lover, I can appreciate all the flavors, but ofcourse it never reaches the level of Orval itself. And as a DIPA, I dont get it. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 06 Calvados on 12 Nov 2017 at 22:16 - Score: 7. Original review text: Orval on steroids met calvados en veel bitterheid. Raar experiment, maar op zich wel lekker

Fles van het Biermoment. Prachtige barrel aging, subtiel in de vanille en de koekjes, bovenop een droppige RIS. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 05 Heaven Hill on 20 Aug 2017 at 00:12 - Score: 9. Fles van het Biermoment. Typische wild turkey RIS, maar wel redelijk veel drop en salmiak in het basisbier, en iets boozy --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 07 Wild Turkey on 06 Oct 2017 at 23:21 - Score: 7. Fles van het Biermoment. Bak vol turf. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Ardbeg - RIS on 24 Oct 2017 at 22:07 - Score: 7. 0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaal Bier Winkel', bottled in November 2016. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, slightly smoky and a little fruity aroma of dark chocolate, lots of coffee, some peat and a touch of dark fruits. Moderately sweet, malty, quite roasty, slightly smoky and a little fruity taste of dark chocolate, massive coffee, licorice, a touch of peat and traces of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, earthy-dry and slightly peaty finish. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Great balance, the barrel character is quite subtle but adds another layer of complexity to the base beer. Unbelievably good for a brewery that has so far only been known for its hoppy beers.
