Murky brown colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have lots of pine and forest floor. Rather herbal.

Bottle at home, 1st October 17. Pours black, not totally. Aroma is cocoa, citrus. Taste is hoppy enough, cocoa, bitter, a good BIPA actually.

Sampled in a blind tasting, with Dr. Beer. Pours black, not much, yet dark head. Smell is rich, very roasted coffee, burnt, intense dark chocolate. Taste is full, sharp, roasty, very burnt, intense coffee. Dark cocoa notes. Rather high carbo.Very minor notes of infection.

Bottle at home shared by puttetjes. Black with tan head. Deep roasted chocolate malts, coffee, wood, booze. Over moderate sweet, strong bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. I love the roastedness and wood tones, the bourbon has turned merely into booze, I miss its subtleness. But maybe JB is not so subtle I dont know. I only drink Pappy. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 04 Jim Beam on 25 Dec 2017 at 21:59 - Score: 7. Original review text: 3.7

Bottle shared thanks to Puttetjes. Black with beige head. Dry hazelnuts, leather, coffee, dry cocoa, dry oak, soft vanilla, red berries, cardboard, dust, soft bourbon. Just medium sweet, medium bitter and light sour. Over medium bodied with dry feel. It's OK but both the beer and bourbon get a bit lost in lots of old woody notes.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized medium brown colored head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, liquor / bourbon, some roast. Taste malts, bourbon, roasted malts, bitter, dark and roasted malt bitter, lightly peaty in the background but not annoyingly. Medium body and decent, suitable carbonation. Solid.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in May 2017. Slightly hazy, golden amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, quite fruity, slightly grassy and a bit resiny aroma of orange jam, mango and some pine. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, rather fruity, slightly grassy taste of orange jam, mango, some melon and a touch of pine, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite dry, grassy, slightly resiny and a bit herbal finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very refreshing, easy-drinking session beer!

Pitch black pour with a tan head. Notes of roasted coffee as well as brewed coffee, dark cherries, dark chocolate, licorice, molasses, sherry, smoke, light peat, whiskey. I am surprised by the quality of the coffee notes in this stout, especially since, according to the label, no coffee was used in the brewing process. A really nice imperial stout, dark and roasty but not too bitter or smokey and the barrel notes are excellently integrated.
