Description
Cider done right. That means delicious West Country cider made from fresh apple juice, using the best locally-sourced apples. Founded in 2002, we are independent, family-owned and very proud to be based in the oldest working cider mill in the UK, breathing life back into the old building. Our home in the heart of Devon is the perfect micro-climate to grow cider apples and we are blessed with some of the finest bittersweet apple orchards in the world. We press and ferment whole juice from the finest locally sourced fruit, never from concentrate. No artificial flavours or aromas, simply the best natural ingredients, and then let it age to perfection. No shortcuts. The result? Delicious, beautifully balanced and naturally refreshing cider.

Bottle from Cooperative Supermarket, Salcombe. Lighter golden cider with a very light activity for a sparkling cider. Nevertheless there’s a fair apple aroma and flavour with its strength not too evident.

Old rate discovered when I was trying to work out the differences in numbers between my spreadsheet & RB. Rated 8/10/2011 at William Robert Looseley (JDW), High Wycombe. Red colour. Cheap cider covered up with Ribena and cough mixture. Fake strawberry in the finish. Watery mouthfeel. Grim.

Bottle from Cooperative Supermarket, Salcombe. Hazy yellow-amber in colour. Has a gentle tasting spice, but there's enough here to give this plenty of depth in texture and taste with apple and orange evident. Mulled aroma. Definitely a winter cider!

Bottle from Ashby's of Salcombe, Malborough. Light golden medium-sweet cider, well-formed with a good full mouthfeel. As such it has a good apple aroma and taste.

Bottle in Devon July 2020, only just got around to adding this listing. I recall it being the best of the 4 Sandford Orchard session strength ciders I tried during my week in the county. It was certainly crisp and dry with a good level of fizz.

Bottle from Laedram holiday park, Devon. Purple pink colour. Aroma of fruity apples and berries. Low to moderate carbonation and a moderate body a little syrupy.Taste is sweet but not overly so, with apples being just as distinctive as the berries. Decent.

500ml light gold with slight fizzy head. Crisp tangy red apple aroma and taste. Moderate carbonation, a little sour, a little watery, a little dry in finish but it's not exciting. Decent session cider but nothing special.
