Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.
We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Backlog January 2019. Clear golden body under a big, dense white head. Nice, fresh and fruity aroma with esters. Taste is sweet pale malt, fruity, spices and a bit peppery. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Nice one.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, very small, creamy, beige head, a ring of macropore bubbles remains. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, dark cocoa, a touch of praliné. Taste is bitter, roasty and chocolately, dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, dark cocoa, some roasty, dark chocolately and hoppy bitterness, oaty overtones; lingering, bitter, minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Oily-creamy texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Rather simple, chocolately and bitter - OK.

Goed bier.

330ml can from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Shared with Finn. Low off-white head to a deep ruby-brown body, fair lacing. Faint but distinct aromas of smoked malts, nutty. Smoked dark malty flavours added by nutty caramel. The smoked malts lingerings on to a decent finish. Likable. (Tromsø 19.12.2020).

Thx to Zinni for this can. Cloudy, murky golden color and small white head nose of overripe to decaying fruits. Sweet. Taste is tropical fruits, a little peppery and faint spicy finish. Nice one. Great idea, guys!
