Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.
We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Bottle from Jumbo, Lanaken. Hazy yellow, thin, white head. Aroma of mandarin, pineapple, peach, vague ripe passion fruit, ramubtan, whiff of tobacco. Taste has sweetish peach, pineapple & zesty citrus, softly bitter citrus rinds, some doughy malt. Floral hoppy finish, zesty, crisp with stonefruit bitterness. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Decent but bit one-sided.

0.33 l can from 'Ace Drinks', best before June 2022. Slightly hazy, amber with a thin, fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, rather fruity, slightly dank and minimally funky aroma of peach, passion fruit, marijuana, dough and a touch of hay. Hardly sweet, gently sour, very fruity, gently dank and a little funky taste of passion fruit, mango, peach, marijuana and some dough, followed by a short, quite tart, dank finish. Medium body, gently astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very refreshing, easily drinkable and well-balanced, lovely summer stuff.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%, IBU 20. Slightly hazy golden colour, pours fizzy with a shortlived white head. Aroma of decaying peaches and stale marmalade. The flavour has a moderate fruity acidity, with notes of lactic acid. Also distinctly sweet, moderate notes of peaches. A little bitterness in the finish. Won't buy again.
