Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.

We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Can shared. Slight hazy deep golden with white head. Sweet malts, marzipan, indeed some muscovado sugar, alcohol, grassy hops, soft dough. Over medium sweet and bitter. Full bodied. Decent uncomplicated barley wine.

Can from markoijelena, thanks. Hoppy and malty aroma and taste, caramel, resin notes, mature fruit, alcohol, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty and hoppy bitter finish with alcohol notes. Ok.

330ml can, as Kaapse Bertus, 10 % abv, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Pours a dark ruby-brown body, low fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Inviting roasted brown malts on the nose, scent of earth and biscuit. Well blended taste of toffee, dried fruits, bread, and a light vibe of smoked malts. Roasted brown malty finish, lingering. Fine bodied. Very suitable sipper on a Friday afternoon. (Tromsø 27.08.2021).

330 ml can, at Grand Café-Restaurant Loos, Rotterdam. ABV is 4.5%. There is a picture of Karl Marx on the can. Deep golden to orange colour, large white head. Reasonably citric aroma and flavour, hints of passionfruit, on a background of sufficient malts. Refreshing. Went well with my chicken satay.
