Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

22 Oz bottle poured. Pours a golden color with a fading head. Nice hop filled aroma. Throughout the year these guys will continue to have special releases, and I think this one is probably my favorite. Not really because it’s a super fancy, different beer. Just because it tastes so good. Nice hop character. Quite refreshing. Delicious double.

On tap at Brouwers, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out sour pitted fruits, balsamic vinegar and wood. Flavour is along the same lines, with balsamic and sour pitted fruits. Very well-constructed with a good incorporation of acidity and vinegariness. Great sour.

On cask at Washington Brewers Cask Festival, pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out toasted malt, earthy nuts, and light coconut. Flavour is not too prominent on the coconut - it's still a brown ale at its core, with toasted nuts and earthy bready malt. Well-balanced and nice subtle incorporation of the coconut. Nice stuff.

On cask at Washington Brewers Cask Festival, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Nose brings out dry hops and brett. Flavour matches accordingly with a nice funky over top the hops. Well-balanced and drinkable. Very good.

On cask at Washington Brewers Cask Festival, pours a cloudy filthy orangey brown with a small beige head. Nose is hot, with paint thinner, floral hops and bready malt - very hot. Flavour is hot as well, with dry floral hops and lots of perfume. Too hot and messy for me. Cool experiment but I can't drink this.

Draft pour at the Tavern Hall. From notes. Thought this was a fitting place to try this beer for the first time. Pours an oily clear yellow color with no head. Soft grain and hops aroma. Thick mouth feel to it, though the flavor is very light. Definitely not what I expected from this beer. Glad I tried this.

2013 version draft pour at the brewery. Pours a dark reddish copper color with a thin oily head. Aroma is rich sugary malt and caramel. Flavor is sweet. Thicker body. Some brown sugar to it. Lingering sweetness with a little booziness. A warmer upper here for sure. It’s strong, and doesn’t hide it. Overall a fun barleywine. Good beer.

Draft pour at the brewery. Pours a reddish copper color with a nice hop forward aroma. Really enjoying this beer. A ton of flavor going on here. Nice malt character, and tastes like a full red with a session abv. Description says it best. Awesome session here.
