Description
Highland Brewing was founded in 1994 by retired engineer and entrepreneur Oscar Wong, establishing it as the pioneer of Asheville, NC’s booming craft beer industry. With a portfolio that is equal parts established and inventive, Highland is known for consistently excellent beer. Proudly regional, Highland is distributed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky. Highland is the largest independent family-owned brewery born in the Southeast, with the third largest solar array in an American craft brewery. The brewery is in a rehabilitated manufacturing facility on a hilltop, affording space for thousands of visitors to enjoy limited release beers, tours, and live music. In addition, the event center and rooftop can be reserved for private events. Since 2015, the company has been led by Wong’s daughter, Leah Wong Ashburn, and has 50 full-time employees.

Bottle thanks to travita. Pours with a tan head and a hazy golden body. Aroma of caramel, grain, alcohol, and sweetness. Not a lot of complexity there. Taste is alcohol, grain, and toasty with some hop presence. Light bubbles and a caramelly. Finish.

A tall, long lasting tan head crowns this dark brown brew that shows ruby highlights at the edges. Caramel predominates the aroma, supported by coffee and chocolate notes from the malts. Sweet start that doesn’t get too overly so, coffee and chocolate making their appearance, then ending with a dry finish.

Dark but not black. Aroma comes across with some roasted something. Smell is also at times mettalic, like fresh nails. Very little carbonation. Mild burnt wet old wood flavors bit not quite reaching Stout levels. Burned bitter charcoal lingering finish without an alky burn. Overall good beer experience.

Pours a dark amber brown with not much head. Aroma is "celery". Not quite medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is "celery" with some mild toasted malt. It’s not offensive, but it’s not all that strong anything. Pleasant. Does leave some burnt bitter aspects in the mouth. If there’s chocolate, it’s low key.

pours amber, off-white head aroma is hoppy, some spices and malts. flavor, caramel malts followed by thin bitter hop profile.Overall finish retains a good amount of sweet caramel, light spices also noted for some bitterness. Enjoyed this one a lot, more on the sweet side and not so much of the over hoppy seasonals out there.

Bomber pours deep amber with lasting thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with malts mixing with burnt malts, chocolate, caramel, earthiness and some heat. The taste is also sweet with malts, syrupy sweetness, a dash of caramel and chocolate. Into the finish the flavor picks up additional notes of coffee and burnt malts helping to dry out the palate some.
