Waldhaus Spezial Gold, Flasche von Ambrosetti. - Goldgelb, blank. - In der Nase breites, satt getreidiges helles Malz, Vanille, Bonbonsüße, feine süße Zitrone, zarte Kräuter. - Antrunk tief hellmalzig mit Butterkeks, zart kandissüß, mit feiner Zitronenkonfitüre und feiner herbaler Hopfung. Milder rezent, vollmundig, leicht trocken. Im Abgang milde herbal-hopfenwürzige Herbe. - Sehr schönes, tief hellmalziges und Waldhaus-typisch elegant gehopftes Export. Ausgezeichnet! (12.11.2020.)

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, dark golden with a small, white head. Subtle spicy/perfumy nose, but the beer doesn't appear to be dryhopped. Rich, malty body. Lowish carbonation. A hint of caramel and a dry finish. There's not an awful lot happening here, and the Monroe hops (never heard of them) aren't realy allowed to shine. I think a dryhopping could've made this a lot more interesting. Not bad as it is, but a fairly generic Strong Ale. 021020

12 September 2020. At Zum Lamm, Ettenheim. Shared with the lovely Anke! Hazy brown with a lasting, thin, foamy, tan head. Aroma of dried banana, plum, raisin, clove, caramel, brioche, toast. Taste has sweet banana, raisin & red apple, bit spicy & nutty with a sour wheaty accent yet brioche-like maltiness being more dominant. Yeasty, herbal hoppy finish, spicy & toasty with more dried fruit. Medium body, slick-oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Okay enough but can't compete with Paulaner and the likes.

12 September 2020. At Zum Lamm, Ettenheim. Shared with the lovely Anke! Hazy yellow with a lasthin, thick, foamy, white head. Aroma of fresh banana, yellow apple, dough, wheat, nutmeg, honey. Taste has sweet banana & apple, wheaty sourness balanced by bready-doughy maltiness, a bit spicy bitter. Yeasty, floral hoppy finish, lingering grainy & honey malts as well as unripe yellow fruit. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Not too strong in taste but at least it's not overly banana sweet.

Bottle 33 cl. What a messy entry - this 2020 edition seems to have no home on Ratebeer, but I'll add it here. Pours a pale yellow with a slight haze and a white head. Distinct and rather sophisticated hop aroma, although far from the new breed dryhopped hazy IPAs. Different but in a good way. Medium body, sweet malty and fruity, with the distinct hop notes througout. Not overly bitter finish though. Interesting. 270820

Bottle. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is grainy, bready, mild yeasts. Taste is bready, mildly grassy, some bitterness. Silky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Nice enough!

500ml Bottle - Pale golden with a white head. Grassy aroma with notes of hay and lime. Relatively hoppy taste with notes of lime, tea, lemon and some floral notes. The bitterness is quite soft at first but becomes slightly harsher in the finish.
