Description
Beer for purists. Pure & Simple. Here, amidst the pure shores and rolling glens of the Isle of Man, Okell's has been defined by our beautiful Island for over 170 years and guided, in all that we brew, by its unique Brewing Purity Law.

Dr. William Okell, a Cheshire surgeon, started Okell's Brewery in Castle Hill, Douglas, Isle of Man in 1850. He was a man of singular drive and ambition - by 1874 Dr. Okell owned many of the pubs on the island, had convinced Tynwald (the Isle of Man's parliament), to create an act ensuring the purity of beer brewed on the Isle of Man, and built The Falcon Steam Brewery just outside Douglas.

It's A Continuing Tradition...
We care about the beers we make, and for our Head Brewer Kevin Holmes, it's a never ending passion to create the perfect pint of Okell's. Making the perfect pint from only 4 ingredients is a special skill handed down by generations of Master Brewers.

Continuing our tradition of innovation, Okell's has the only wide gap plate and frame heat exchanger for heating the wort in the Copper in the British Isles.

Cask @ Urban Tap House, Cardiff. Incredibly dark brown with a perfect tight khaki head. Scent of mocha, raspberries and whipped cream. Taste is sweet and creamy but ultimately noncommittal. A decent beer, I’d have it again (and again...)

Amber colour, clear, white head. Remember this as a fairly standard session bitter but better than usual. Light caramel malt, soft bitter hops. Finish did have some more hop in it....recall this as a 3.1

Cask @ Bear and Billet, Chester [220314] [From memory as notes lost] 8/3/7/4/14
Pale blonde, dense white head. Good aroma of sweet tropical fruits and mango, especially for the abv. Similar tastes as I recall, very light pale malts, nice soft sweet tropical fruit citrus hops. Palate was fairly light, good mouthfeel for the abv, good bitter sweet balance, finish was clean. One of the best beers on the trip.

On cask at SIBA BeerX - Deep black, thin tan head. Nose is liquorice, coffee and burnt chocolate. Body is a bit thin, but the taste is well rounded enough, with a very clean finish.

50cl bouteille @ RBBWG III, thanks Tinus. Dorée, col blanc léger. Arôme est fruité citronné noble en dominance malt anglais restant très basique sur qcq effluves caramel et ce côté noble caractéristique des ales anglaises. Note vraiment pas une influence du Cascade. Palais est ici aussi très anglais d’inspiration avec des pointes de malt et caramel, houblonné finement amer, nobles, fini sec et grains. Bière anglaise des plus typiques.
