Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, pale malt, moderate hoppy, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, citrus, fruity. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, syrup. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, smooth, fruity - berry. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130123]

500 ml bottle as Coal Fire Porter sampled in 2009. Dark reddish body, almost black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee with a hint of liquorice. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, some fruit and liquorice. A bit light but balanced bitterness. Medium body and a good aftertaste. Smooth and quite quaffable.

Cask at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 17/04/13. Clear copper coloured with a good sized off white cap that retains well. Nose is light malt, orange, fruits, sugars, hint of pineapple. Taste comprises pale malts, light grapefruit, orange, faint hops, light peach. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitterness in the finish. A drinkable bitter with a good depth of fruit flavours.

Cask at NWAF 2012. Very dark with an off-white head. Mild aroma of roasted malt with some hops and dark fruits. A bit sweet and fruity with a light bitterness in the finish. Slightly watery, but easy to drink. (2013-01-25)
