Description
Twickenham Fine Ales was the first brewery in Twickenham since Cole’s Brewery closed in 1906. In the beginning there was a 10 barrel plant which was installed in a small unit opposite a Greggs Bakery factory – pint and a pasty seeming natural bedfellows.
The early days of experimentation and trial settled down with the arrival of Tom Madeiros, as Brewer, in 2005. Being American the use of American hops seemed a natural path and Twickenham became an early adopter of the now popular and more common place hops used in many beers today.
The variety of hops grew and Twickenham now uses hops from countries including: England, Germany, Slovenia, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Cask @ Princess of Shoreditch, London. Almost clear golden with a small white head. Surprisingly nice aroma for a golden ale, citric fruit and floral. Flavor is smooth mild pale ale, citric fruit and some bitterness. Medium to light bodied but actually quite decent body for a less than 4% ABV beer. Medium aftertaste. Smooth and surprisingly nice.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the Drinker’s Paradise. Pours mostly clear gold, highly effervescent, with a sturdy, creamy white head. Soft strawberry in the nose, some lemon, wheat flakes. Light sweet flavour with pleasant lemony tartness, tangy strawberry, mellow acidity, a little straw, biscuit. Light bodied with active, massaging carbonation. Pretty clean in the finish, with more tart lemons, understated raspberry, quenching acidity. Decent stuff overall.

Dark reddish brown in colour with a very small loose off white head that quickly disappeared. Malty with a light chocolaty aroma. Moderately sweet, some caramel and malt. A bit thin and watery; a light dry bitter finish. Not impressed.

Cask pint in the Willow Walk, a Wetherspoons in Victoria, London: 17th Dec 2016. Deep, dark amber body, on top a thin white covering of foam. Malty brew with some candied fruit peel and a slight spice hint within the mix. More bitter than the nose indicates once you are into it, with a mini citrus leaning towards the finish.
