Description
Twickenham Fine Ales was the first brewery in Twickenham since Cole’s Brewery closed in 1906. In the beginning there was a 10 barrel plant which was installed in a small unit opposite a Greggs Bakery factory – pint and a pasty seeming natural bedfellows.

The early days of experimentation and trial settled down with the arrival of Tom Madeiros, as Brewer, in 2005. Being American the use of American hops seemed a natural path and Twickenham became an early adopter of the now popular and more common place hops used in many beers today.

The variety of hops grew and Twickenham now uses hops from countries including: England, Germany, Slovenia, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Clear nut brown beer, no head. Aroma: caramel, toast, nutty, bready, little sweet. MF: no carbon, light to medium boy. Taste: little bitter, green banana, toast, nuts. Aftertaste: bisquit, shortbread, bitter walnuts, green banana. This sure is an English style ale, more in aroma than in flavour though. Solid, but not big. Still good for it's ABV though. /me adds another point for overall score.

Dark brown to black beer, no head. Aroma: vanilla, lots of it, some caramel, rum raisins. MF: low carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel, vanilla, some roasted malts, very fruity touches start coming through after a while, black currants, little sour, citrus, bitter hops, strawberry jam. Aftertaste: some caramel, black fruits, touch of coffee. This, I like a lot.

cask @ ACBF 2012, Moen. Brune claire, beige.
