Bottle from cbkschubert; (bottle 157/1000) Like a 13th sake style; nose very sake like (cedar aged koshu) with oak, caramel, and smoke; translucent medium brown with absolutely no bubbles; flavor very much rice pastiness, male, and woody; alcohol absolutely covered!

2004 bottle. Aroma of caramel malt, a bit of dark fruit, and some hop. Rather hazy brownish color with a minimal, temporary white head. Starts caramel, develops some medium mouthfeel, not a lot of carbonation, followed by some alcohol and raisin. Very warming. The finish is not very dry, but not overly sweet. The finish is a bit flat, no detectable hop, but the burn in the esophagous holds one’s attention. A decent barley wine.

Clear copper coloured body with an orange highlight and a dense off-white head. Aroma of pure cascade hops with some malt, and a bit of a citrus twist. Medium-bodied; Nice lemoney flavour with some assertive hops. Aftertaste clean and fresh from the massive cascade hops. Almost an IPA, but a damn good refreshing APA! I got this twelve ounce bottle in a trade (Secret Santa) from bunkypop and sampled it on 26-May-2004.

Pitch black coloured body with a thin brown head. Aroma of strong chocolate, prunes and a bit of coffee. Light to Medium-bodied; Sour grapey flavour with chocolate and roasted malt highlights. Aftertaste with roasted malt and some nice sweetness. Overall, an interesting take on an Imperial Stout. Definately great to try! I got this twelve ounce bottle in a trade (secret santa) from BunkyPop and shared it with good friend JonR888710 on 11-April-2004.

Bottle. Black beer with little head, but a nice aroma. Easy to drink despite the alcohol, with a complex fruity/roasty flavors that leads to the alcoholic warming. Very good.

From Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA. Pours a rich amber with a medium and foamy off-white head. Thin lacing and decent retention. Aroma is spicy (cinnamon is my guess) with a caramel undercurrent. Flavor is fairly sweet malt and caramel. Finish is hoppy enough to keep it from being too sticky-sweet. A little off-balance but not too shabby.

buttery, malty aroma; orangey-amber colour; thin body with rank flavours of sour hop, and empty maltiness (like spent grains). It's not bottle-conditioned, so what's gone wrong here?
