Sampled on draft at D’s Monroeville this beer poured a vibrant orange-amber color with a large orange-white head that lingers. The aroma was strong sweet fruity hops with a faint spicy undertone. The flavor was strong sweet and bitter fruity hops with a piney element and a touch of dry spice in the middle. The finish was long, spicy and hoppy. The mouthfeel was fairly thick and a bit syrupy. Complex and well done.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Short Pump, VA. Pours a clear light copper color with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Faint aroma of caramel and resiny hops. Taste is very hoppy... citrus, pine, resin. Caramel malts as well. Medium bodied. Decent.

12 ounce bottle from somewhere. Pours a clear light copper color with a thin head... decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is toasted malts, caramel and light fruit notes. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, butterscotch, faint bitter hops and light stone fruit notes. Medium bodied.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is caramel, butter and butterscotch. Taste is butterscotch and light grassy hops. Watery texture, thin bodied. This one is a train wreck. 4/3/4/2/9

Tap at the brewery - the board behind the bar didn’t have any specific info about this beer, so I couldn’t list the abv, etc. - anyway, this one dances the line between IPA and IIPA - it has enough heft to be considered an IIPA, but, from what I could tell, the abv probably isn’t high enough to make that distinction - as far as the flavor is concerned, this is a pretty standard, one-dimensional american IPA - a bit sugary sweet, a light touch of caramel - decent hop flavor, especially in the finish, but the bitterness is a bit astringent - notes of sweetened grapefruit and some other ambiguous fruity character - a splash of rye - lingering sweetness and astringency in the finish - meh - this is no way to celebrate an anniversary.

Doughy, bready, yeasty blueberry aroma, like unbaked muffins. Clear amber, thin vanishing head. Maltier than expected, with blueberries only appearing at midpalate and yielding back to the maltiness. A good combination of seemingly lower quality ingredients.

Weak malt aroma with a noticeable peachiness. Clear amber, thick white head. Watery and slightly grainy, maybe some cherries. Grass finish. Tastes like a cheap macro lager. Overrated.

Fairly strong and even mixture of citrus and pine smelling hops on the nose. Aroma of caramel is also prevalent. Slightly hazy golden color medium white head. Medium body. Outstanding cantaloupe, apples, and pine needle flavor. Honey and apple core finish. Wow! Excellently balanced. Good complexity. Unique. There is a moderate metallic taste that bears mentioning, but other than that this is a delight.

Yeasty hay aroma. Clear yellow, thin white head. Tastes mainly of wheat malt. with a lemony edge. Hopless and hellesish. Refreshing, but leaves you feeling incomplete. Add some cascade hops and you might have a decent beer.
