Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Cask at BeerHeadZ in Nottingham. Half pint, shared with Finn. Black in the glass, stable fawn-coloured head, fair lacing. Earthy malts on the nose, roasted and dry, promising. Nutty flavoured, lactose sweetness beneath. Rounded, sweet malty ending. Decent, just a tad too sweet in the long run. (Nottingham 11.10.2022).

Gravity cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate, Leicester. Mid-gold and hazy with a spotty film of white head. Sweet citrus aroma with some floral and grassy notes. Pleasant if a bit generic. Taste is sweet and juicy with a good dollop of bergamot on the tail end. Light notes of coriander in the aftertaste. Basic haze in a way, but the flavours give it something special without pulling too much focus.

Keg draught at Tap House Notts, Nottingham. Very dark brown and slightly translucent with a small khaki/tan head and generous lacing. Artificial banana in the aroma with dark chocolate notes and Gritty dark malts. Sweet taste just at first before the banana-laden bitterness sets in through to the long finish. Oily thick body, soft carbonation. It's okay, a bit unwieldy and messy yet deceptively drinkable for the ABV.
