About
The original Ashover Brewery was founded in 2007 and over the years has won numerous industry-wide awards for their beers. Unfortunately, due to several factors the brewery then slipped into liquidation in early 2025.

However, a group of locals believed this was a great loss to the area and decided to do something about it and Ashover Brew Co. was born...

Our vision is to create beers that are as unique and varied as the people who enjoy them. We want to create beers that are approachable yet complex, with something for every palate. But at the same time, we want to stay true to our local roots - everything we do is inspired by the area’s rich brewing history and the stunning Peak District that surrounds us.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a creamy-frothy off-white head. Perhaps not as smooth as expected, but its roasted malts are milky.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Medium gold. Foggy haze. Thin, slightly sudsy, lasting, white head. Nose has pineapple cube sweets. Dried out strawberry. Some stewed hop. Toffee malt. Touch of flowery herb. Taste is sweet and steeped hop bitter. Medium body. A bit chewy and feels the whole 6.5%. Sticky sweet and stewed hop bitter to finish. Not great.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hmm. Not sure if this is new, or if it should go under Ashover Cloudy Sour, other than that was out years ago, and this isn’t cloudy? Anyway, this is clear, pale gold. Lots of fine, lively carbonation produces a thick, lasting, bright white head. Nose has wheat. Lemon rind. Yoghurt. Wood chips. Taste is a little sweet, with a soft, lactic sourness. Crisp and clean, lightly drying mouthfeel. Lots of burp inducing carbonation. Dry, and lightly sour finish, with a hint of wheaty sweetness.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazy gold. A few floaters. Film of white. Nose is decidedly vegetal. I picked some gooseberries today, and the really overripe ones that were no good smelled a bit like this. Some cheesy funk. A little woody. Taste is ok. Light, fruity sourness. A tad drying. Light body. Soft fizz. Cheesy and fruity sour to finish. Weird aroma, but overall pretty drinkable. Not up to par with the other Ashover stuff I’ve had lately, though.
