Description
Kestrel lager was a hugely popular and successful brand in the 1980s and 1990s when it was supported with much-enjoyed advertising campaigns featuring the comedians and actors Hugh Laurie and Russ Abbot. Having maintained a loyal following in subsequent years, in 2012 its quality and potential were recognised by Nigel McNally, who decided to take the bold step of purchasing the Kestrel lager beer brand and setting up the Kestrel Brewing Company in order to nurture and develop it.
Under his stewardship the Kestrel brand has now returned to its Scottish roots and is being brewed at a state-of-the-art facility in Glasgow, adjacent to Glasgow Cathedral. Brewing has taken place at the site since 1556, making it the oldest continuous commercial concern in Glasgow.

White wine coloured can of apple sugar. The high ABV really adds a cozy warmthness to this genuine bum drinking experience.

Canned. Golden colour, small white head. ARoma is alcohol, malts and that#s pretty much it. Flavour is alcohol, malts and some slight hoppyness. Surprisingly drinkable for being 9 %.

(Can 50 cl) Pours a very pale golden with absolutely no head. Aroma is primarily alcohol. Medium body, sugary and alcoholic with lots of carbonation and only a faint memory of apples. A terribly industrial cider. Rumour has it that it left yalnikim terribly hungover the next morning. He insisted on finishing the can though.... 190208

Bottle at London Gathering Nov 05. It was great to be able to try this without actually having to buy it. Very, very pale with a touch of green. Amazingly some peanut butter on the nose. Touch of sweet apple. Sweetish in mouth but not entirely as awful as I was expecting.

A yellow beer with a huge white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of metal and alcohol, while the flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol. Malt Liquor at its worst - too much alcohol.

This cider is white as water with a extremely fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet like rotten meat. The flavor is slitghtly more complex - it is a combination of apples and rotten meat. Absolutely awful. I hope nobody else will be so stupid as I were and sampled this one. Yuk.
