GIVING GOOD BEER A BAD NAME

We have survived, against the odds, since 2006, when a peculiar moment of inspiration persuaded me that people would be happy to buy a beer named Cat Piss.

Well, it just goes to show, people will buy anything.

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Opaque dark brown beer. Tiny suddy pale tan head. Pleasant nose of mild fresh coffee. Light dry palate, a little crisp. Slightly roasted dark malt with a whisper of coffee. A little tangyness as well. Dry crisp finish. Not too bad.

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Hazy amber beer, residual white head. Light tangy nose. Dry light and crisp palate. Too dry! Reasonably well balanced light malt and light hops but over all comes across as wishy washy. Not good when combined with the overdry palate. Many an old codger might enjoy this but not me.

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Hazy amber beer, good cream coloured head. A lot of sediment that settles quickly. A little fresh hop on the nose! Light semi dry palate, crisp. Well balanced malt and mild but fresh orangey hop. Finishes crisp with mild bitterness. Not bad at all.

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Hazy pale gold beer, residual white head. Light palate - a bit too dry. The hops are indeed a little floral, whisper of some citrus as well. Tame hops but do impart some flavour. Finishes dry with a very midly bitter aftertaste. Not too bad.

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Hazy amber beer, tiny white head. Light airy overdry palate. Soapy-perfumey malt with artificial cherry. Very dry finish with a bitter aftertaste. Cracking label on this bottle - worthy of Fallen Angel. Pity the beer is godawful!

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Clear amber beer, small pale cream head. Dry palate. Well balanced if utterly standard bitter. Tangy and slightly bitter orange hops. The malt is clean but dry. The palate is too dry overall. Respectable though.

One of a bunch of potty mouthed beers purchased at the Essex Food Fair at Cressing Temple Barn. Hazy orange beer, no real head. Lots of pale floaty things! Light dry palate, low carbonation. Dry pale malt with some mild mild orange hop. An undertone of something soapy. Dry finish. Too dry overall. Not Crap but below average!
