That's pretty good. Nice bitterness.

500ml bottle from Vine and Grain, drunk at our lodge cabin in Skirlaugh East Yorks. Hazed deep reddish amber, good off-white head. Quite malty, floral and hoppy sweet with apricot and orange hints. For some reason reminds me of an early-craft IPA. Decent.

Bottle from Vittles & Company, Hull. Black with a small off-white head. Full flavoured dark malty beer, full-bodied with a mild sweetness. It's a little less stated in its nose, but its lingering taste is definitely a plus.

Sample at RB Watford tasting (10/12/2021) - dark roasted with lots of dark roasted malt, picking up a rather jarring wax like aroma and taste as others, touch of whiskey, full body, not doing much for me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Slavanka Special Reserve 2020 on 26 Mar 2025 at 06:40 - Score: 5. Original review text: Bottle/Can at RB London tasting - dark roasted with lots of dark roasted malt, picking up a rather jarring wax like aroma and taste as others, touch of whiskey, full body, not doing much for me.

Sample at RB Watford tasting (10/12/2021) - (new brewery tick) dark sweet and roasted malty with lots of rich chocolate, some nice whisky notes carry through, full body, dark roasted sweet whisky infused malty finish. Very nice.

Bottle split at the XmasKracker tasting, thanks to LKS, Watford 10/12/21. Black with a decent tan cap that escapes to a swirl Nose is charr, roast malts, cocoa powder, dusty fruits, toffee, spice. Taste comprises ashen tones, herb, spice, cocoa sprinkle, toffee, dried fruit rinds, wooded bite. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Passable affair ... lacks any complexity or finesse.

Bottle shared in Watford - picked up from Pigs Ear. Pours deep brown with a small, creamy beige head. Lightly sweet with strong fresh wood character, a little ash, salt, burnt meat, scorched earth. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Subtly warming finish, dry, more ash, fresh torched wood, a little cocoa. Good stuff.
