Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 23/12/2015. Pale gold in colour, with a decent, white, head. Light citrus fruits and leafy hop aroma with some malt sweetness. Flavour had more fruits, accompanied by cereal malts leading to a lengthy, bitter, finish. Fine.

Draft at Craft Beer Rising 2014 - Brick Lane, London. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. A solid offering, this. Good roast, dried fruits, moderate sweetness. Light earthy bitterness, some burnt leaves. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more burnt sugars, moderate roast. Good one.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer festival 2015. Translucent golden orange coloured pour with a lasting loose halo if white head. Aroma is decent saison yeast, straw, sweet orange , hay. Flavour is composed of bready malts, light dough. Tangy orange rind, hint of ginger, spicy hop finish. With nice yeast character. Palate is grainy, moderate carbonation, dryish finish. Good saison.

Bottle from John’s Wine & Spirits, St Ives. Orangey-amber with a thin cream head and a moderate fizz. Spice and burnt orange peel and toffee, like a Christmas cake that’s been left in the oven for too long. A lot of dirty, dusty hop notes, as if the sadly abused cake had yhen been dropped on the floor and kicked into a long-unwashed corner. I did grow to dislike it less the more I drank, but was still not a fan, although oddly the last bit went surprisingly well with a chilli.

On cask at Ravensgate Arms Ramsgate. Diacetyl aroma. Hazy amber colour. Some decent pink grapefruit kicks in. But it’s just a bit empty and not very well made.

The Travlr tasting at ChrisO’s. Thanks to Gene for all the beers and Chris for hosting. Clear deep amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, touch of dark chocolate and a little paper. Chilli starts to burn. Light dry finish. Tired of these chilli stouts, bone tired.
