Description
We forged Firebrand in 2012 in a converted milking parlour on the untamed edge of Bodmin Moor, North Cornwall. The idea was born from our passion for beer made from all-natural ingredients, Cornish spring water, and American hops.
We brew beer that we love to drink and pride ourselves on our craft. Whether it’s a Hazy Vegan IPA or a Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, we regularly refine and tweak our recipes to brew the best beer we can.
Originally launched because the co-owner and head brewer of Penpont Brewery Joe Thompson wanted to brew a more modern style so Firebrand Brewing Co. was created.

Can from lowcostbeer, consumed in date - just! Cloudy dark gold, small white head. Bready malt, with slightly funky hops. Taste is somewhat astringent with pine, malt, light citric notes. Dry light to medium bodied. Not great.

Can from lowcostbeer, consumed 1 day past BBE. Pours a cloudy light amber with off white head. Aroma of orange, flora, minerals. Taste has a nice Juicy orange, grapefruit, pine, light spice. There is a hint of that Firebrand astringency but more hidden here. Nice.

Can from lowcostbeer.com, consumed 1 month past BBE. Amber, light haze, nice looking white head. Aroma of fruit cake, malts, toffee, minerals. Taste of fruit cake, caramel, orange pith and zest, slightly herbal hop with bitter finish. A touch of barley wine sweetness about it. Medium to full bodied, warming alcohol on way down. A little rough around the edges but I like this, quite tasty.

330ml can from Beers of Europe. Light cloudy dark gold/light amber with big white head, plenty of scum like retention and lacing. Aroma is malty, resinous, stone fruits, earthy. Taste is malty with punchy hoppy notes of citrus, zesty peel, stone fruits, earthy, dry bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. A softer carbonation would have worked better.

330ml can from Beers of Europe. Light cloudy dark gold/light amber, small fluffy white head, decent retention. Aroma is biscuit malts, grainy, with a hoppy note of citrus zest, stone fruits and earthy-flora. Taste is biscuit malts, grains, stone fruits, pineapple, zesty bitterness, earthy, very dry and almost astringent in note. For whatever reason its just not that tasty. Light to medium bodied, oily yet dry in the close.

Can from the brewer's own stall at the Birmingham NEC Good Food Show. Hazy pale amber with a white head that lasted reasonably well. There's a nice tropical and pine hoppiness. The mouthfeel's actually pretty decent for a low alcohol beer; I think in blind test I'd have guessed this was a 4% pale. The only let down is that the bitter finish is just a tad too harsh. But still definitely one of the better low alcohol brews I've tried.

Can from the brewer's own stall at the Birmingham NEC Good Food Show. Clear burnished good with a light fizz and a rapidly vanishing white head. Thin and a little watery but with pleasing grassy hops set against a gentle biscuit base. It's crisp and clean and easy drinking. It's that very rare thing - a pretty decent low alcohol lager.
