Unit 15 Pomphlett Farm Industrial Estate, Broxton Drive, Plymstock, Plymouth, PL9 7BG, England
Description
We produce a range of cask and bottle conditioned “real ales” from ingredients sourced as locally as possible. All of our recipes use whole leaf English hops mainly from Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The fermentation yeast is “wet” reducing the amount of waste yeast from each brew and allowing the strain to develop its own distinctive characteristics. Our spent grains, the remains of the malted barley after mashing, are collected by a local farmer and fed to his cattle. Our beers can be found in pubs, shops and restaurants in Plymouth, West Devon, the South Hams, Torbay and Cornwall who are passionate about local produce. The brewery was founded in 1983 by Adam Summerskill and has been here in Plymstock since 1985.

Cask at the Crosse Keys (JDW), City of London. A rich mahogany colour with a loose white head; chocolate aroma; smooth in the mouth with lots of taosted grains; a pleasant estery bitterness; and some coffee to finish. A very nice mild.

Cask at the Bell Hotel, JDW - Norwich. Pours clear, dark gold with a dense, creamy off-white head. Toasted leaves and husky grains in the aroma. Light sweet flavor with leafy bitterness, some dry toffee, leather, grain husk, tobacco. Light bodied with fine carbonation. OK finish, some grassy and leafy bitterness, more grain and tobacco, wood, leather. So so bitter.

30th Sep 2015: two hand-pulled cask pints in my local Wetherspoons. Clear amber/light brown body, an off-white topping stayed around for the whole pint each time. Fruity and malty with a hop backbone that kept in the shadows throughout, semi-sweet really with a mixed bag of fruity aromas and flavours.

Cask at GBBF 2015, day 5 - London. Pours clear gold with a slight, creamy head. The nose has a perfume note to it, some grain, berries, grapes. Light-medium sweet with lightly toasted bread, ripening citrus fruits, hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation; pretty good condition. Finishes with some citrus fruits, moist hay, grains, faint lemony tang. So so.
