Description
Back in the 1980s Terry and Bev McCashin took on New Zealand’s brewing duopoly from a small Nelson factory using their own recipes. They gave people more than just something to drink…they gave us choice. And so began the craft beer revolution…

From a 330ml bottle on 28/12/2018 (a Christmas gift from Desmond, with thanks). Labelled 'Amazing Wakachangi Lager' with the byline 'Quite nice beer!'. Pours an ultra clear light golden with a small head. The nose is ultra mild grain and some grass. In the mouth, there's some indistinct sweet malt and corn, finished off by a very gentle bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. I guess it could be worse, but not much worse. 'Quite nice' is a real stretch. On the bright side, it has an amusing label where a small creature (possibly a piglet or a wombat) is attacking a man holding a spatula.

'Bottle. Pale gold with a white head. Aroma of crackers, paper, weeds. Light bodied getting on for watery, but it''s the sort of beer that that''s a mercy. Really light stale malt and boiled lollies with a more prominent weedy bitter finish. This is a throwback to mid 80s NZ beer but it''s not quite bottom of the chilly bin'

330ml bottle into lager glass. Caramel malt nose with hints of sweet fruit. Golden amber beer with thin frothy white head. Slight haze and high carbonation. Light body. Very smooth and drinkable. Starts fruity and bitter, ends earthy and bitter. Very nice quaffer, not too complex, not too simple.

330ml bottle from Dan Murphys, Queanbeyan. Rich golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of sweet juicy apple. Taste is sweet, green apple, juicy apple, mellow, alittle vanilla and some tartness. Light to medium bodied, slightly spritzy carbonation, dry acidic finish. Quite OK.

Straight from the bottle on the beach. Nice bottle. Light toasty malts, grapefruit juice, grassy. Lots of nice hops with classic pils hop but also grapefruit and even lime. Malts are also for from classic oils malts. Under medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied with slight dry crisp feel. Nice! Later had it again in glass. Clear golden with white head. Actually not bad, more hoppy than their IPA...

Bottle. Amber with a puffy white head. Aroma is very English with marmalade-like grapefruit, bread, boiled sweets. Smells like a somewhat flabby bitter from the golden end. But there's considerably punchier citrus in the taste and it's dryish and quite firmly bitter at the end.
