Description
Back in the 1980s Terry and Bev McCashin took on New Zealand’s brewing duopoly from a small Nelson factory using their own recipes. They gave people more than just something to drink…they gave us choice. And so began the craft beer revolution…

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, straw, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with caramel, and straw, as well as a bit of smoke, leading dry finish.

Red-amber, aroma is buttery, raisin bread. Tastes like sausage. Like maybe landjaeger. There is some semblance of balance but the tastes aren’t desirable. A bit of a shit show.

33cl bottle from Vino. Appearance - cloudy orange with a slim head which disappears fairly quickly. Nose - honey and cereal, just a touch of citrus. Taste - more of the same but not quite as refreshing as the nose suggests. Some soapiness on top of the honey and malt. Palate - light to medium bodied with a similar texture and a clean finish. Overall - a solid and very sessionable IPA.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Hazy golden body with a thin white head that slowly fades. Light carbonation. Few lacing marks. Aroma of grass and grain. Flavour is light, lemony and grassy - it’s more like a slightly hoppy Lager than an IPA. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft carbonation. Bland and boring, but not quite as bad as the previous reviews make out.

33cl bottle. Pours opaque black but with chestnut tinge. There is a thin crema head some of which hangs around. The nose has millionaire shortbread but also raisins, so it’s fruit and nut bar, really. The taste has dark chocolate and liquorice. The palate is medium bodied with a drying finish. Overall, amazing nose but lacks it in the other department.
