Description
Back in the 1980s Terry and Bev McCashin took on New Zealand’s brewing duopoly from a small Nelson factory using their own recipes. They gave people more than just something to drink…they gave us choice. And so began the craft beer revolution…

330ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. The less said about this the better to be honest. Pretty poor.

33cl bottle thanks to Nick McCashin. Appearance - hazy golden with a decent head. Nose - honey, lemon and struck match. Taste - lemony but astringent. Again, struck match. Palate - light to medium bodied but unfortunately very cloying. Overall - the finish doesn’t resolve itself. It doesn’t make you want to drink another.

33cl bottle thanks to Nick McCashin. Appearance - golden with steady carbonation and a fairly attractive layer of lace. Nose - interesting. Citrus but also elderflower and possibly some herbs. Taste - pale malt and lemon. Palate - light to medium bodied with a fairly good texture and a fairly clean finish, though not so much for a lager. Overall - solid but interesting nose.

Sample from 650 ml. bottle. Slightly hazy golden-amber colour with a small, off-white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, fruits, light spices and hops. Taste is light sweet. Medium body, soft carbonation. Short, lightly bitter finish. Pleased by this APA, but not that impressed.
