Hand-pulled pint in The Angel on the Bridge, Henley on Thames; 3rd December 2024. Chestnut colour, off-white crown. Nutty, spiced and wintery somehow. Earthy and slightly on the sweet side, certainly more malty than hoppy, overall a decent winter warmer.

Bottled. Hazy ambery orange colour with a small creamy white head. Aroma is yeasty, spicy, some zest, wood and mild honey. Flavour is honey, some wood, mild ripe fruits as well as some toffee and floral and fruity aftertaste.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Pours mid brown with a cream cap. Aroma: vaguely malty, light caramel. Taste: light sweet & light to moderate bitter, vague malts, hedgerow fruits. grassy hints Thin body, very watery, light carbonation. Hugely insipid.

Have you had a half-decent golden ale? Cool, so you know what this is. Looks like a beer should with a good thick head, smells a bit malty, flavour has a bit of the same and some hops and maybe a dash of citric fruit. No more, no less. No nasties, but a thoroughly generic beer.
