Brown bottle, label read Brakspear Organic Beer, 500 ml, best before 28/02/08, purchased at the LCBO on December 22 2007, savoured on February 12 2008; eye: caramel with an orangey hue, ring of creamy head that is off-white, lightly hazy, a bit of lacing; nose: light caramelized malt, light fruitiness, light hops; mouth: malt, appearance of fruitiness, a bit of caramel, finale with an hint of acrid bitterness, a bit thin, slightly sweet and bitter, medium body; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, l’étiquette se lit Brakspear Organic Beer, 500 ml, meilleure avant 28/02/08, achetée au LCBO le 22 décembre 2007, savourée le 12 février 2008; œil : caramel légèrement orangée, petit anneau de mousse crémeuse blanc cassé, légèrement voilée, un peu de dentelle; nez : léger malt caramélisé, léger fruité, léger houblon; bouche : malt, percée de fruitée, léger houblon, petit filet de caramel, finale avec une petite pointe d’amertume âcre, un peu mince, très légèrement sucrée et amère, corps moyen; en résumé : correct

Cask handpull, St Aldates, Oxford, RB Pub crawl 08. Gold with lasting beige head. It’s a little fruity, but ultimately a rather dullish ordinary bitter. Bit of yeasty. But not great and just a little bland.

Gravity cask at Lobster Pot, West Malling Reddish copper, floral hop nose, not a lot in the mouth with hoppy earthy finish. Not a bad session bitter

Bottle from Sainsburys. Pale amber with next to no head. A standard bottled bitter. Some fruit and grassy hop aroma. the flavour had a touch of sweet malt and a dry finish. Ok.

Cask-conditioned at the Rising Sun, Frampton Cotterell, S Gloucs 6/1/08. Deep copper colour with a decent, off-white head. Subdued aroma of fruity malt. Flavour had some malt to start before being overpowered by a peardrop/sulphur aftertaste. Not my kind of bitter.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear amber color ale with a medium foamy head with OK retention and small traces of lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt is very enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by nice biscuit malt notes with medium sweetness. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nicely done but nothing earth shattering in here.

This ale poured a dirty copper colour with not much of a head at all. To the nose you can smell scents of hopps, maple and orange zesty citrus. First taste is alot tamer than I would have expected with flavours of pine/hopps, sweet malts and a little caramel. The finish is bitter with a nice hoppy finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Inn on the Green, Bristol 22/12/07. Deep gold colour with minimal head. Sweet malt and floral hop aroma. Flavour also had some malt but was marred by an unpleasant, Wadworth-style, peardrop aftertaste.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow/orange color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention but some good lacing. Aroma consists of fruity ester with some floral malt. Taste is a mix between some floral malt with some nice fruity ester and a medium sweet hoppy finish. Medium body with some medium carbonation. Well done overall for the style and appears reasonably fresh which is always welcome.

Hazy dark copper ale with a sparse thin off white head, and light carbonation, almost disappointing. In aroma, strong solvent aroma followed with plums with earthy notes. In mouth, a strong astringent roasted malt, followed by subdued hops, and sweet stewed fruits. Fusel alcohols develop. The harshness subsides as beer warms up. Not bad. LCBO Dec. 18 2007.
