Batch number 1. Should be a 2014 vintage... purchased at Julio’s Liquors way back when in early 2015. Murky Amber color with a brown hue. Aroma of caramel malt, floral hops, dark fruit and a English malt or ale hints.

Fruity flavor (grapes, apples, pears) along with bready malt, very mild bitterness. Medium bodied with the booze almost totally hidden. This is a pretty nice Barley Wine, very enjoyable. I wanted to share this with friends but nobody wants to drive to my house on a Sunday to watch the Philadelphia Eagles. Their loss my gain :)

Bottle at Craft Islington, thanks to Leighton. It pours cloudy dirty gold with a thick white head. The aroma is sweet, tangy, white grape, bready malts, alcohol boost, spice, cereal and a touch of gooseberry. The taste is bitter - sweet, white grape, gooseberry, warming alcohol, sherbet, straw and candied citrus fruits. Medium - full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Works pretty well. Good fun!

Bottle shared at the Craft beer Co tasting 24/11/2016. Many thanks to Leighton for this one. A hazed yellow straw coloured pour with a a frothy white head. Aroma is big spicy champagne yeast, dry, funk, straw, grassy. Interesting. Flavour is composed of semi. I sweet pale grains, champagne, Belgian yeast, brown sugars, apple. Little barrel. Palate is effervescent, flabby, spritzy. . A really interesting beer.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in MA. Light gusher. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. The nose holds biscuit, yeast, doughy wheat, some white grape. Medium sweet flavour with bready sugars, light vanilla, hints of caramel, wheat bread. Medium to full bodied with massaging carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly warming, with more bread, some further vanilla, impressions of toffee, low bitterness, bread crust. Very nice.

Bottle, batch 3, drunk 5/17/16.
Huge white head is well-retained, atop a hazy golden-flax body with light bronze tints.
Big perfumey nose shows both dry hop and brett acids, fairly homogeneously mixed, adding dry guava, unripened nectarine and dried lime skin. Malts are seemingly well-attenuated, leaving only light table sugar-like remnants and bits of cracker and biscuit. No alcohol or flaw.
Again it has that heavy perfume-like brett character with guava-lime and lots of floral notes. Some softer hop fruitiness and light cracker and biscuit malt notes help bring the beer back down to earth, somewhat. Tight carbonation, bottle conditioned, etc...and no alcohol or flaw. While I think that Verdance had significantly more lush depth to it, for someone that likes pure brett, this is done very nicely in its own right.

The beer is an orange-gold color. Fairly cloudy, but it was lying on its side until I took it out of the fridge. Big sturdy white head. Some lacing. The aroma is citric hops on top of an earthy saison base with some lightly funky, fruity brett stuff going on. Lemons, tangerine, peach, raspberry, dusty barnyard action, sweet grape, peppercorn, a little bit of grass. Nice mix of flavors, nothing really takes over, though the hops come through fairly strong. The taste is moderately bitter and mildly dry. Nice fresh pale grain flavor. Maybe a bit too much hop bitterness but it’s still nice and the bitterness gives it a refreshing edge. Pillowy soft mouthfeel. Easy to drink. Solid hoppy saison.

Batch 1 750mL drunk 1/15/16.
Initially medium-sized, dark beige head quickly recedes to a ring atop a dark brown liquid with dark chestnut tints. Clarity is fairly high, leaving sediment behind.
Deep, dark and foreboding, the aroma divulges tons of lactic acid mixing with a moderate acetic character. Very bacterial and with potential brighter, lighter brett and hop notes drowned out by all of this, as well as the darker, chocolate and prune notes from the malts. Still, it certainly smells enjoyable, though I wish there was more underlying Saccharomyces/classic yeast character to it. No alcohol or flaws.
Tart and growing rather acidic/bitter in the mouth, the beer produces plentiful chocolate/caramel and prune notes, while a heavy lactic and acetic character builds up. Borderline astringent bitterness from the combination of the near acetone-like character. Very fruity (prunes, raisins, plums, blackberries, currants, etc...) and quite dry, though with a fair amount of malty texture and a lightly sweet chocolate reprise on the end. Carbonation is a bit on the looser side which negatively affects the beer, concentrating the acidic and bitter components on the finish. No alcohol or flaws, but just a bit too monotonous with the acidity, for my tastes.

Batch 1 bottle (mid-late 2015), drunk 12/6/15.
Huge, rocky, bottle conditioned/unfiltered white head is very well retained. Sparkling bronze-golden liquid shows a medium-high to high clarity.
Soft, gentle lactic acid in the nose combines with mild brett, delicate honey and fresh Spring flowers. Soft, earthy funk builds interest but never interrupts the brightness of the citrus and you’re left with a floral, but not too much so, nose that is infinitely sniffable, free of alcohol and flaw (and no resinous hops!).
The flavor is much more given over to the lactic acid, which arrives on the palate midway through and gently builds up acidity. It never gets too sour, however, and there’s a wonderful complexity of biscuits, crackers, pepper and honey stemming from the rye, wheat and barley. Wonderful, tight carbonation and well-extracted yet well-attenuated malts provide a soft texture. Dry, tart yet not overdone on the acids and quite complex. Definitely agree that this is their best one yet.
