The tradition of our house goes back to Wolfgang Pfeffer, who founded the brewery in 1889. He made the recipe for our steam beer. His demands on quality and taste are still the guideline for our art of brewing. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, herbs, grain, malt and citrus. Flavour is lister sweet and bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Lovely!

500 ml bottle. Dark golden, fluffy head. Hay, malt, bread, mild hoppy citrus notes. Mild dry bitterness, some malty sweetness. Light bodied, watery texture, lively carbonated, mild dry finish. Good Schankbier, refreshing.

500ml bottle, online from Beers of Europe. Pours clear chestnut brown with a decent tan cap. Aroma: sweet-ish malts, grains, caramel, nutty, yeast esters. Taste: moderate sweet & light to moderate bitter, bread, caramel, clove, banana, cinnamon. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Nice to finally find the beer that has it's own style on Untappd.

0.5 l bottle from local 'trinkgut', best before July 2021. Clear, mahogany with a medium large, dense, almost stable, off-white. Sweetish-malty, quite yeasty-spicy and a little fruity aroma of bubblegum, banana juice and traces of clove. Gently sweet, malty, quite yeasty-spicy and minimally fruity taste of banana juice, quite some bubblegum, a touch of clove and traces of grains, followed by a short, minimally bitter, quite yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Haven't had a Dampfbier for years and now two different ones within two weeks, liked the Veldensteiner version better than this one.

Bei dem Bier bin ich erstaunlich uneins. Einmal finde ich es recht misslungen, sperrig und hart an der Grenze des trinkbaren, bei der nächsten Verkostung interessant, außergewöhnlich und auch lecker (das Bier stammt meist aus der gleichen Charge, daran liegt es also nicht). Auf alle Fälle ist etwas zu viel Kohlensäure drin. Süße und säuerliche Noten sind zu finden. Röstnoten, Traube, floral, etwas krautig/würzig, Spuren von Leder, hinten raus wird es etwas bitter und trocken. Tut sich also ziemlich viel. Das ist mir (je nach Tagesform) dann doch manchmal etwas too much, was man unter einen Hut bringen muss.
