Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een diep donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een bruinig schuim. Het heeft een gebrande houtige en whisky achtige geur. De smaak is gebrande mout, hout, whisky met een drop en salmiak achtige nasmaak.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierloods22', best before May 2024. Very hazy, ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of molasses, raisins, overripe banana, prunes and some clove with a touch of coriander and licorice root. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, fruity and yeasty-spicy taste of molasses, raisins, prunes, overripe banana, clove, licorice root and coriander, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy and a little boozy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tasty Quad, a bit simple but nicely balanced.

330ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Weak, dusty yeasty, slightly toasty and nuttily, dark malty aroma, hints of hazelnut, weak, tart-ish, tannic overtones of green wood and mustard, even wasabi. Taste is sweet-ish and slightly dry, minimally tart, toasty and nutty, dark malty, hints of hazelnut, a minimally tannic touch of green wood, some resinous and grassy hop. Oily texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Well crafted concerning secondary qualities (appearance, mouthfeel), somehow contradictory regarding primary qualities: nutty and toasty malty components are indisputable; I guess that your particular estimation, if you like this Bock or not, depends on your valuation if you see the tannic and spicy aspects as flaw or innovative - I'm not sure and vote for the sneaky middle ground.

Bottle. Unclear darker yellowish color, white head. Smell and taste malts, yeast, oranges, orangepeel, some herbs or spice notes. A bit odd. Don't really like it tbh. Meh.
