Originally rated April 2005. I love apple beer ! This one pours a cloudy yellow-white with amber highlights. The white head is fizzy, with good retention. The nose is, of course apples, but mixed in with the scent of a witbier. The base of this beer seems to be a witbier. The taste is surprisingly not much of apples, mostly a white beer. Apple taste are felt in the burp section. Carbonation is pretty crazy and wild. Must be a great summer brew. Will try it next on a hot sunny day. Recommended if you like fruit beers that are more on the beer side, then the fruit side.

Originally rated May 2005. This is another lager that is easy to get around here, and that I buy from time to time. It pours a golden colour with underpar carbonation. The head doesn’t stay long, and the lacing is minimal. It smells bitter and slightly malty. The taste is a bit bitter with a smooth cereal finish. Decent lager, but prefer the Sleeman Silver Creek lager (reviewed also tonight).

Originally rated June 2005. This blueberry ale pours a deep red-purple colour with a fizzy head that dissipates very quickly. Tinny lively bubble carbonation. No lace. Smells like mead. Watery mouthfeel. Taste weird. Slightly sour, lingering aftertaste. Reminds me of outdated red wine. As a fruit beer lover, I say this is the last of me trying this brew. Thought I remembered liking this beer in a pub once... must of been a dream.

Belle Gueule brews are nothing out of this world, but for a light decent beer, easy to find around here in the convenient stores (Quebec), I prefer their products over Boréale (Blanche and Noire being the exceptions). Pours a golden colour with a big white head. Retention is average, lacing as well and carbonation is quite active. The scent is hoppy, probably Saaz. Mouthfeel is mildly creamy. The start of the taste is of grain malt and finishes on a slight bitter note. The aftertaste is mix of both. This one is a decent Canadian Pils-style, close to my favorite, the Steam Whistle. Note: Nowadays, I prefer Boréale beers over Belle Gueule ones (but their pilsner is the better of all their trio).

Originally rated July 2005. Got this one in a special 15 pack Belle Gueule with the three other muskateers (Original, Pilsner, Rousse). Only made for the season of summer, it pours a golden lager colour. Good lacing, but not much carbonation. Head is creamy, same as the mouthfeel... quite refreshing. The nose is very light on the malt, but one I have never encountered before. The malt is also light in the taste, with a nice aftertaste, that is quite pleasant. Well brewed for summertime.

Originally rated July 2005. Golden-amber in colour, this vienna has a foamy white head that does not last long. Hardly any lacing. The nose is a nice mix of sweet malt, roasted malt and hop bitterness. Taste is roughly a mix of what I listed as aromas, but very mild. Grain malt is maybe dominant. Should have more kick. Would be an awesome one.

Originally rated July 2005. Bought this Belle Gueule 15 pack for an awesome price at Loblaws in Hull, Quebec. Under a buck a bottle... for over-par swill. Pours a golden-orange colour with a beautiful creamy head. Dissipates quick enough, but leaves a creamy coat on top. The lacing is also part of this... very thick and creamy all around. The small bubble carbonation is steady. Kind of sweet smelling with some hop bitterness. Notes of grain malt and roasted malt. The taste is of grainy malt with slight bitterness in the finish. More grainy in the aftertaste. Overall smooth, and medium creamy mouthfeel. The bitterness comes back in the long aftertaste. A very decent vienna.

Originally rated this April 2005 (3.4/5) but now that I have a new one, might as well see if it has changed or not. Still pours a deep amber colour with a beige head that hangs averagely and creates decent lacing. The smell still reminds me of hefeweizen, more than a scottish ale, with its spicy yeasty nose. Does smell more malty after breathing, but still, the yeast reminds me of most Unibroue beers. More malt shows up in the taste, with some caramel and roasted ones, all well-balanced with some hop bitterness in the finish. Still, nice notes of spices, but not much aftertaste (a little tarty with the bitterness). A nice brew, but not sure about the style they gave this one.

Bottle shared by Kinz at the 16th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 11/5/11. Pours an amber yellow color with a thin white head that fades quickly. Spicy aroma with pale bready malts and caramel. The taste is sweet sugary malts, spice, bread, bubblegum and spicy hops. Medium bodied.
