Well, it doesn't really back it's name up - there isn't that much hop. Light amber; light aroma of grain, hop. Has a herbal, grassy hop character - quite soft - with bready notes. Grassy, semi-sweet finish.

Light gold; grassy aroma with faint malt; slightly acidic; vague herbal notes. Nothing going on here.

[Keg] Amber color. A bitter ale, poor aroma, too weak body, strong hopping, good final. Drinkable but not interesting nor original.

Black color, creamy head. The aroma doesn’t impress me too much, because it tends to show too much burnt paper and bad coffee, but somehow there is a familiar Danish touch too. The flavor is much better, mostly due to a very good body strength, with strong black malt first of all, then caramel and some dry liquorice too. The final gets slightly sweeter and the liquorice balances more the black malt. I’m not too excited by "coffee" beers, but indeed it’s a good one.

Black color, thick head. Good aroma of roasted malt, nutty, but also some cardboard. Good body strength, strong roasted malt flavor and chocolate, hidden but good malt. Somehow a very interesting mix. Strong ending bitterness, with burnt sugar too. Very good.

Dark color, creamy dark head. Nose of coffee, cardboard, roasted malt. Full body, strong mouthfeel without being alcoholic. Good malt and roasted malt, lightly smokey.

Golden color. Smells? maybe; also some elderflower aroma. The first impression is a too watery brew, for such strength; then the structure improves, and ends in a much better and strong final. Doubtful, on the edge between...

A light amber beer with next to no head. It has a slightly sour aroma with notes of malt sweetness. The sourness probably comes from the corn it is brewed on. The flavor is dominated by sourness from the corn, with a little sweetness to go with it. In the middle it is quite fresh, but then it ends on a watery note containing only a bit bitterness - though it lingers.

A golden beer with a fine head. It has a faint sweet alcoholic aroma. A very filling beer with a very sweet flavor with hints of the alcohol content. Nothing special in the taste but a nice strong beer - to keep the warmth in winter.

Organic strong lager. Strong enough but not what I would think of as a Christmas brew. Too light bodied despite the strength.

Light golden like a pils, smells like a pils with some more alcohol (which indeed this beer has!), tastes like a very strong pils. As such this beer is not bad, but I guess you have to be Danish to figure how anyone would choose to drink this stuff for Christmas (and even name it a "Christmas Brew"). Alcohol is not everything, for Christmas I want darker malts than they have used here! This beer must be a distant relative of Carlsberg''s Elephant. Save it for a cool summer''s night.

A heavy mouthful from one of Denmark's few independent regional breweries, which I'm always happy to support every summer. A nice region with nice people who make several acceptable beers - this is their very best one. However, I have to admit that Gamle Carlsberg Imperial Stout Porter is slightly better. Rerate: Characterized as a 'double brown stout' by the brewery, this stout/porter (in Denmark that's more or less the same thing) is really so different from Gamle Carlsberg Imperial Stout Porter that it's a bit unfair to compare the two. The smoked flavour is really something out of the ordinary. I've never had a rauchbier (*I have now!), but I guess this one has some elements in common with that style (* smoky, but not smoked meat, T.G.). I highly recommend a sample of Limfjords-Porter! Rerate 2: Hey, this beer grows on you! Black (okay, extremely dark brown) as the deadliest of sins, moderate thick tan head, aroma and flavour of tar, resin and midsummer bonfires. Overwhelming smoked bitterness. Tastes like it's been stored in a Viking ship through seven battles and a round-the-world tour. Simply outstanding.
