Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Not getting much rye spice, but chocolate and a lot of raisin.

Dark brown, thin head. The aroma has a lot of brown sugar, bourbon richness, umami like they put MSG in this, I mean that's a good vibe. There's a big rich molasses/brown sugar, with again that big umami. Really nice bourbon character.

Hazy, and dullish. No head. Orange, mango and some oniony citra-type stuff. Some mango and orange on the palate. I mean it's okay, but the malt base isn't quite there.

Dark brown. Thin head. The aroma definitely has cocoa nib notes, and it's fairly fruity. The habanero is a bit weird on the nose. This has a fruity pepper note, with a lot of cocoa nibs, cinnamon. The balance is ok as the habanero flavour is less stout-friendly than other chiles. This is okay, but not my favourite Bellwoods.

Dark brown. Not much head. The aroma has a great burnt toffee accent, with a big rye note. The Armagnac notes show up a little bit, lending just an accent. It's got a fair bit of Armagnac through the palate, lending a bit of raisiny fruitiness when combined with that rich dark chocolate cacao type notes. The rye ends up being less potent in the palate, and the wood overall is not as powerful. There's a lot of complexity to this. Excellent as usual.

16oz (thx, Chris S., for the box forward!) @ 🏡 shared with wife.
Aroma: nice tropical fruits, juicy, some sweetness.
Taste: along the same lines, crispy, a bit astringent.
Overall: good one.

Vaguely hazely coppery blonde, that pour with a minimum on white head. Nose is oaky vanilla, some funky socks over grapes. Taste is moderately funky and aserbic sour up front with that same oaky vanilla, backed by grape must lingering sour ans grapes, over what feels like slughtly thinner malt. Very nice.

Thanks to whoever traded me this on RateBeer.
Black with a small light brown head. Roasted malt, light wood, brown sugar, mild caramel and licorice. Mostly dry and roasted, but with some relatively mild sweetness backing it up.
Medium to full body, medium sweet and bitter. Dry and roasted finish.
